Just finished watching cause I slept all day.
I think it did okay
but I also think I would not be best at noticing if it didn't.

It did not blame things on aliens and it did not say all the problems are in the past lalala and the white people only 'helped' in the end by being part of the problem, so, you know, that seems like a good try.

I am a bit interested to know what precisely Ryan did. Like, I'm pretty sure the Doctor called that thing lethal? But it was also being used by someone with a limiter who couldn't do a harm? So... did Ryan kill him or not?

Sneaky enemy trying to make history more racist, references to Stormcage and vortex manipulators, him knowing about the TARDIS but just thinking it's worth a money... interesting elements.

They did a story.

Newspaper reviews I could read seemed to like it, and the historical accuracy, given the givens.

Only thing they said against it was it wasn't very Doctor Who on account of the lack of aliens etc. And it's true DW very seldom plays defence like this or keeps things simple. But think of all the mess if it did the usual. So if Doctor Who is going to go there, this seems the way to do it.

Papers also said this is the first story by a writer who is not white. Which is about time. Malorie Blackman, co wrote this.

Think subject matter needed careful handling, and got it.

i think they said the weapon displaced things in time, and Ryan set it as far back as it would go, so he sent the dude into the past. hopefully that means he starves in a wilderness or is eaten by some megafauna and not that he's able to change history some other way.
