Adventure vs lecture

beccaelizabethI have decided that the reason I can't string a plot together right now is that I am too angry.
I am so frustrated with the way every other story is Doin It Wrong
that instead of thinking of a series of challenges that can be resolved in a meaningful way
I kind of want to gather all the characters up somewhere safe and just
yell
on the theme
WTF is wrong with everything.
Like, it's not going to be a plot, it's a high volume lecture.
I don't want to present two sides and have them conflict and resolve it
because I'm pretty sure who is already right
and just so frustrated about it not being fixed already.
I have read stories that were basically a lecture though
and they basically sucked
sometimes so hard you ended up re looking at the author's other stories
and the clarity sucked the joy out
possibly because of the disagreeing with all the parts
but also
lecture
is not plot.
And like, I can put characters together and have them benefit from each other
but like
they would tell each other stories we the viewer already seen
and be school for each other
and again
is no a plot.
I mean I know if I was running Hogwarts it would have a strong humanities curriculum
but I don't think anyone else wants to read the lessons.
Buffy turned them (problems) into demons and usually fixed them with stakings.
... I would want to make friends?
... here is demon of the week and why they are secretly friend shaped...
You would recruit a new main character every week that ways.
How then to build up to a season finale?
I mean in fanfic's preferred genre that's either a wedding or an orgy
but
that wasn't the sort of plot I was trying for.
Though it did make me think
you know that Buffy episode where Wentworth Miller played a guy who turned into a fish monster?
... You know The Shape Of Water?
... now that's a post Sunnydale plot I have not seen...
So. Anyway. Plots.
Difficult because I just want to collect everyone an make them have a nice day
but also yell about the stupid.
