I was doing a review of the year
but the year was pretty samey so it isn't taking long.
Went to Games Night, went to Norwich Science Fiction Group at the Ribs of Beef, went to meditation. A few visits with mum and brother. Some daytime shopping days.
Nothing much written, nowhere particular explored, just my routine trundling along.
My fire alarm tag only has two incidents in it, because I only write down the ones where we all go outside and wait for firemen and alarm key dude, not every time it goes off for less than ten seconds.
The april time the alarm went I went to the supermarket for biscuits, which was a small adventure.
I got a haircut, with no buzzed bit for the first time in many years. I think I want to go back to fancier hair next year, but that needs more visits to the hairdresser.
I rewatched the MCU but spent more brain space on DC Arrowverse, especially Legends of Tomorrow, which has fun with the comic book everything goes approach and is very happily queer. Makes it more welcoming.
I read a bunch of Harry Potter fic, filtered to Actual Adults and post canon, with the word count set high enough it's basically just a stash of fantasy au novels. Which probably explains how deep my Marked to Read stack is now, and how little I read on paper this year. Fanfic can provide a lot, even when I've not read the canon. ... it's still frustrating to poke the wiki and find how much of the worldbuilding just... doesn't math. makes me want to write a verse to math things...
I listened to a lot of audios, Big Finish audio adventures in Doctor Who, Torchwood, Captain Jack and River Song. Also Pathfinder. Those were more fun once I'd read more lore. ... I still need to find an RPG group.
Reading rule books and world books for RPGs continues to be fun, in a climbing frame sort of way. Interesting to see how rules and choices generate story.
Reading is behind but I have a variety of magazines to choose from and made some decisions about which ones I like.
I finished replacing my furniture so now nothing is broken, I have enough chairs, my TV stand desk works great, and my shelves are alphabetical. Also the third CD cabinet means I have sufficient room for all my CDs, just in time for CDs to be yesterday's tech.
The blind and curtain are up too so everything is more or less as planned.
So that's a pretty good year.
I mean it might not have much by way of adventure and excitement, and changes in staff and tumblr made it feel a bit shaky, but it was basically pretty okay.
Next year I resolve to write A Story (1) (about anything at all)
Find a new social thing to add to my list
and go on at least one Adventure.
I'm scheduled to attend a convention for the first time in two years so that would be an excellent start.
But 2018 was okay.
