Finished watching Krypton.
That ended pretty much the way I expected it to when they made the Zod's women.
No interesting twists, just ... *sigh*

Everyone is terrible people, they wrote the religion of Rao real dark, and it just doesn't interest me in any corner.

Also trigger warnings for child death, that was just nasty.

I was puzzled by what they thought was a big reveal, that the elite use clone bodies to survive after bad accidents. It didn't establish how or even if this was a bad thing. It went straight from 'your body is cloned' to 'my whole life is a lie' and I don't see why. Transfer the mind into an identical body and you've got the same person in a science universe.

If they want to say clone rights and clones should have the opportunity to have their own lives, fair enough, but right now they're hanging in a genesis chamber with no minds so that hasn't been established. We don't know they have the capacity, and it certainly isn't being used.

Also if the problem with Brainiac's world is he keeps everyone paralyzed with their minds active, and yet the genesis thing is possible, he could just print one set for himself, or if he's a collector print a copy to leave behind, or people could break in to his bottles and copy the minds out. I mean it leaves a whole set of people imprisoned, but a whole identical set free, so that would be interesting.

Of course in the wider DCU they've established the existence of souls, and then the whole clone thing gets way more complicated, because the science doesn't copy a one of them. If we're meant to assume souls exist then a copy is not the original.

Not that copies would act identically after the moment of creation.

I don't know, I donlt see how 'you are a clone' is a big deal yet, and the story didn't tell me.

I mean they have teleport technology too, so the whole copy vs original thing is in play there as well.

eh. whatever, they didn't sell it, I'm not veryninterested in whatever they meant.

The S shield stands for Hope in this universe. In Supergirl it means 'Stronger Together', but from what I read the Hope meaning is older. I like Supergirl better, it's something you act on.

I did not like this series and don't see why it thinks we want to watch. Are we there to watch everything go horribly wrong and then splat? Because Hope is a weird keyword in that story. Are we there to see a better tomorrow? It's Krypton, we know all its tomorrows. Whatever answer it intends, it didn't give it.

Bored.

"It went straight from 'your body is cloned' to 'my whole life is a lie' and I don't see why."

One person's horror is another person's "neat!", and many show creators tend to privilege their own viewpoints. But being so clueless about it that they didn't support their premise because it's obvious to them? Blech.
