I opened a bunch of Pathfinder books and ended up planning the domains for a new god.
Because it annoys me that one cannot be a cleric of both Day and Night, with existing gods. Gods of twilight get filed as Darkness, which is wrong, since the defining quality is it's nearly sun time, between day and night. If you start out in the dark you need to add sun to get twilight, but no, no deity does that. So then the spell lists stay seperate.
... and I get annoyed with being told what to do.

So I ended up with DOMAINS (Subdomains)

SUN (Day), DARKNESS (Night), KNOWLEDGE (Education), LUCK (Imagination), LIBERATION (Freedom)

Most Pathfinder gods on the wiki with Night are evil, but there's a half dozen ranging from Chaotic Neutral through Neutral to Lawful Good. The Neutral one is a twilight goddess. So darkness isn't an alignment thing.
With no Good or Law or Chaos on there the hypothetical deity would be Neutral.
So their cleric could be anything, as long as at least half Neutral.

A character who took a level in Druid (Urban) could get Knowledge, and also choose Day and Night for their Cleric domains, plus get two Believer's Boons http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/believer-s-boon to touch on Luck and Liberation. It's not very practical but you can get there.

i am currently trying to understand Ecclesitheurge https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/cleric/archetypes/paizo-cleric-archetypes/ecclesitheurge
because I think it means they can dance around merrily taking spells from other domains, if their god has other domains. The granted powers would stay the same but the spell list is more optional. ... much of the spell list would be just on the cleric list anyway, but it still sounds fun. And then there's getting a bonded holy item. It's making clerics more wizardy, really.

I always get so frustrated with classes I end up poking it for ways of bending the system even if it's not actually helpful. Multiclassing is mostly limiting, but I daydream to throw in some levels of Bard and Mystic Theurge just because. ... and then entirely fail to play with such broad options available.

Eh, is just ideas.

So today's idea, which I'm sure I've had before but didn't find my notes about, was, what god would I build, if I could build a god?

What would you be looking for in an RPG deity?
Practical spell list stuff or something with a bit more theology?
