beccaelizabethToday I dreamt Ianto Jones found a door into the 90s, and further found that however long he hung out back there he arrived back about five minutes after he left.
I imagine the first thing he did with this knowledge is get some sleep.
Ianto was also heavily tattooed, under the suit, for which image I can thank a rather nice Steve Rogers art on tumblr. That one was heavy on the symbolism so now I'm just wondering what ink Ianto would get and how much of gis life story he'd effectively write down, considering.
It'd be neat, having a door into Before, and a way to add years to their lives. But they're still Torchwood and it's still a Rift effect, so they'd start out thinking holiday, and end up with extra work to do, with bonus difficulty for dodging paradox effects. Given that Jack would be there already. And quite willing to both lie and retcon himself if necessary, but still, awkward. Especially trying to prove it's necessary.
Also now I'm thinking of someone staying until they're past their date of origin anyway and then taking the door back to five minutes after they left. Then it'd be a long way round gate to... whenever, really. The past as well. And as many times as you'd like.
Could be a bit of a runup. On big days.
But DW is pretty clear on what happens when you contradict yourself or try to do the same yard of the same day twice so that's eventually going to go very poorly.

And I know it's Captain Marvel making me thunk that particular date
but
if my subconscious is thinking of the 1990s as somewhere to go for a rest...
