On magic potions

Having read a bunch of Teen Wolf fic
I have decided
if I ever get as far as writing again
any 'magic' herbs or potions I ever write about?
will be edible.
There's a terrifying proportion of fic that thinks wolfsbane is only dangerous to wolves. or werewolves even. and apparently they got that from canon? *shudders*
if another name for it is 'queen of poisons'
maybe it should not go anywhere near a human person!
If I make up magic potions
I will make them entirely innocuous
maybe mostly from the baking supplies section
since after all you add the magic to them.
just make a decent pasta sauce and say it's a strength potion, why not, it's all made up stuff, I'm sure I can find magical correspondences that work straight from the kitchen.
I realise fiction might assume nobody is fool enough to try these things
but the world holds such a wide variety of fools
I do not want to take chances.
Also every time a human touches the stuff in a story
it gives me the shudders
and the shudders is jot usually the intended effect.
