Doctor Who with Tesla
Jan. 19th, 2020 08:23 pmThis one was mostly okay.
Good setup, not great makeup or CGI but that's fine if the story works, but then the ending made me sad.
So I figured out what I would do with the exact same parts but change the ending.
I feel like the ending, blow up the queen to destroy the race, was a Problem.
Tesla refused to work for them because his work was about progress and building the future. Great. So why is he happy proud when he turns his wifi tower into a weapon? That's equally destructive. There should have been another way.
So, Doctor goes up to the ship, finds a Queen holding the scorpions in thrall, and instead of deciding they're a hive mind and blaming the whole ship equally and killing them all, she thinks, revolution.
But how do you use Tesla's inventions to bring a revolution?
Well thst little green orb was full of an entire civilisation, so they'd be remembered, yes, but also so they could educate others.
Combine the Tesla wifi tower with the records in the green orb and tell the world (who arenlt ready to receive it) and the ship (who are) exactly how else they could be living, by sharing all the knowledge from this whole other way of life.
And then the Queen would be like, why would I change? I can just steal everything!
And the Doctor would be like You're a parasite
but you singular specific
and the scorpions, with their shiny new green education, would overthrow their queen
and everybody lives.
But now, we blow them up, and we're supposed to cheer, or laugh when the Fam have guns that don't work. Why are they so eager for guns, this crew?
And why has the story got so little for them to do?
I am a bit frustrated by how the story actually went
but many parts of the story were okay.
