Today has been singularly unproductive.

I didnt think of anything to do so I spent a minimum of three hours just kind of staring at a wall or some such.

... my watch tells me to stand up once an hour so I have a sense of time passing, I just didnt fill it.

Youtube on my smart tv is pretty unuseable. Aside from forgetting things I want to watch, it shows me an ad before and after every video. So two ads every three minutes, or thereabouts. And the ads are never helpful. I turned off the personalised ads today because whatever person it thinks I am it is wroooooong.

Also when I got to youtube at three in the morning it shows me a whole bunch of white noise sleep videos in the recommends instead of the things I always go there to see, and I do not need to feel that judged.

I actually tried the tv's version of firefox to see if it can install adblock but wow is that thing useless, it wont even type things properly for me, it just jumbles the letters and moves the cursor around while you type. Garbage thing.

So I played Kingmaker some more in the Tenebrous depths, but I am very, very bored of it, and it still crashes, and it still grinds to a stuttering halt in the middle of fights, and I still need to find other games. But it seems to be tricky. Grump.

The problem with daydreaming about the same fandoms for extended time is eventually you either stall or have to take off for parts unknown. I know by now how I would fix the canon if I was there (and remotely likely to survive trying) and it is a bit wheel spinny to keep thinking about it.

But canon isnt going to fix itself.

I need to think of something original ish where I can take the story wherever I want it to go.

I was thinking though that in the DC TV Earth Prime right now there probably isnt a Stargate network BUT in umiverse they have all the parts they need to not only make one but make it have always been there. DEO has the Stargate, and access to starships, so we know interstellar travel works both the quick and slow way. Time travel works. And time travel is space travel, they just open a door to anywhere in time and space, plus the way evetything is always moving if they kept a door in the same geography but a different time, that would mean it was aiming at a very different bit of space relative to anything that wasnt just Earth surface features. So they have several angles to develop the tech and distribute it. And sure that would take time, but, fun thing about time travel, you can always get out and push.

Rip took five years personal timeline to make it so five minutes after leaving the ship he could come back and fix their breakages.

Sketch map for grander plan: You need people to figure out how to build the ships and the gate, and they need somewhere to live, and that is going to take a while. But, once you've got it figured out, you can launch the shops through time as well as space. The seed ships can have started their mission ten thousand years ago, if you feel the need. So after you start it rolling it could take five minutes of your personal time to have a whole gate network up and running, and have it have been running for ten thousand years, which really helps with the terraforming.

... I feel like I have said all this before. Oh well.

The trick with writing that isnt destroyed by chages to the timeline can shortcut the hell out of any iterative investigation or development process. You can try things, write down the results, make sure younger you has the results and will therefore try something different, repeat as necessary.

... might be the sort of paradox that destroys the universe, but that's what that indelible writing implies anyway. It's a road to omniscience, one erased screw up at a time.

... the kind of person who would stick with trying things over and over and over if they rememver every try is a much shorter list than people who would read a book and try to write the logical next chapter.

So, they've got all the parts to figure out, design, and distribute the Stargate network really, really quickly.

Physical manufacture would take up most of the actual time needed.

And then after that?

... all kinds of everything. It's kind of a blank canvas, it's not exactly a story generator because suddenly there's space for every story.

Space is really big.

Procedurally generated infinite levels and/or planets is not currently sounding appealing. No narrative through line. Very little implied for character development.

Also most of the people who would want a planet for their own probably shouldnt get one.

... or I'm having a pessimist day.

So. Thoughts are just wheel spinning really.

I'll try for something more interesting later.
