DW BFA 45 and Magic Mousetrap
Sep. 13th, 2021 11:37 pmListened to two adventures while playing Kingmaker (and it only crashed a lottle. ... that ws meant to be little but it resembles lottle... *sigh*)
45 had one fun backstory linked section in 1945, one gimmicky last section to explain the 45 thing, and two others I had to look up to remind myself about.
The one where they go to a dig in Egypt and the one where the Doctor caught a virus did not grab me. Also did not seem to fold in the 45 theme very smoothly.
The bit about the Word Lord I think could be fun, had a fun ish fix, but... not sold on it.
Which leaves Ace visiting her mother as a tiny toddler, and the Doctor nearly saying a secret about Hex. I liked that one. But I dont have much to say about it. Ace gets to sort of circle around her family and her issues. It remains sad.
Magic Mousetrap is a story about nobody remembering / knowing what was going on, which seems like the usual thing where the Doctor has to figure it out, but was somehow more irritating. I'm also not keen on the audience knowing more than the Doctor, I think. So the story was twisty and had interesting characters in and the actors got to do silly voices and rely on us not being able to see them but... well I listened to the ending twice to be sure I understood it but it was mostly sad.
I think maybe I am just discontented today.
Dont know what I'm looking for in a story today. Possibly happy endings? But Doctor Who isnt a place to go looking for endings, the story continues in so many ways.
Still, pretty okay day. Did the tasks, got the foods, mostly, listened some stories.
