Not fascinating to write about though.
I've been reading a lot of one author's fic and they continue to like applying one character as a lever to move the world. Different one characters in different fandoms, while the other falls in love with their sheer competence. It's not that they're always the same character with different names on, it's just you can see what they like about it, and there's a lot of overlap. So stories I quite like are feeling different because of lining them up in a different order.
I am stalled half way through a big book because I realised I'd read like a novel's worth of book already and I remain... unsure if I like or like reading about these characters. Maybe if I had more concentration when I started I'd like them better now. But I'll have to pick it up again on purpose, and so far today I did not.
