Apr. 27th, 2022 07:26 pmThe Silvered, by Tanya Huff, remained very good to the end, which I did not quite get to last night.
It was also dark and violent, starting with war violence and then getting nastier as the bad guy decided magic users and werewolves didnt count as people, cut them up to see what would happen, and tried to do a forced breeding, which went even worse than it sounds cause he'd been keeping the wolves in wolf form and not feeding them.
Also there was surgical castration done to someone very young on page 461.
So that was really nasty.
But the good guys were determined and resourceful and won in the end, so that part was great.
When I was looking for which books to read next I looked up David Eddings on wiki, and found out some history stuff.
Makes me not want to reread those, even to find out if they're worth the shelf space.
So I'm going to try and pick something kind and fun to read next.
... might take a while.
