rpg until dawn, oops
Jul. 24th, 2023 06:29 amHave successfully dealt with the Midnight Fane in Wrath of the Righteous, and there was one fight so tough I'm almost sure I didnt find it before, but I won it on like the third go. My Commander has the Persuasion score of the gods but can't hit stuff for toffee, which goes poorly when I keep sending him to hit stuff. He's useful on twenties in a fight. But everyone likes him.
... at some point I guess it will be a problem that he's dating three guys, but, right now they're all pretty happy about it. I'd just rather there was a dialogue option like 'oh by the way have you noticed the other two'.
If Ianto was going to date them then Dae would be because he's easy and to start with he'd feel easy to disappoint, but then it gets into the wilds of Complicated and he'd end up caring a lot. But it's fun to have someone to be epic salty with, and Daeran actually makes moves on you, so, easy.
Ulbrig... if you want spoilers for a computer game romance: he starts his romance options with getting drunk and being all everyones dead why is he still alive no one needs him anymore. So there's an option to also get drunk and tell him you the Commander needs him. But then he turns you down, seemingly. Which is how Ianto started other romances. BUT there's no way he wouldn't reach out to Ulbrig in that situation, he mixes the man out of his time sad hero Jack thing with the depths of despair Ianto is all too familiar with, and we know Ianto's solution when it was him was, basically, Jack, so, Ianto would try.
Even though the guy is big and beardy so not my type or observably Ianto's, and he's kind of objectionably stupid about some things, he's got a good heart (alignment) and a lot of prejudices and bad information. Assuming basic levels of attractive achieved, Commander Ianto likes him.
And then the further romance plot gets very sweep you off your feet, kind of literally with the shapeshifting, so that's just nifty.
But I seriously doubt he'd share with Daeran, so, something's going to go poorly there.
Sosiel makes me feel a bit bad to be leading him on, even though he's very sweet and trying really hard to be romantic. He's trying too hard and needs a bit more genuine and a bit less books, but, he's all in on his first love affair and also a worshipper of the goddess of love, so that's fair. His background though, with the deaths of everyone he worked with and his surprising survival, and then the whole fight at the funeral, that's a bit like Ianto, losing everyone and then having to fight them. So again I figured Ianto would know where he was coming from too well. But that's going to leave Ianto being the guy who doesn't say love and probably isnt as invested as his partner yet.
... I mean if he was the only one he was romancing then I'd think of a bunch of ways they'd in fact be serious, but this is a Trickster playthrough where he's left his alignment behind to go a little off the rails and thereby grow apart from Sosiel, and also an atheist playthrough with a romance with a priest, so I'm thinking it's more awkward and complicated than that.
Honestly he should find him a nice young man and wish him well, because his love life is just not what Sosiel would expect.
Even without the flirtatious demon lords.
I liked the first playthrough and chose all the options I liked best, so this time I'm having to find reasons in character to do a bit different, and it has to start with feeling lost and angry and rejecting the ideas that the dialogue options keep calling 'good', the ones about gods, or 'lawful', about queens and authority. You can still do good sometimes, but in a less religious way, which is a very different set of options.
Starting by pretending Ianto got dropped in there gives it a lot of story hooks.
... not that I expect anyone to be interested in this incredibly niche xover, but, I am not asleep yet, so i have thoughts.
Hope your days go well and creatively.
