Played Wrath of the Righteous through to Legend
though I did have to retry that section repeatedly because it turns out there's a pretty hard dice roll required to get off the Trickster ride and while if it were me my character who failed I'd roll with it and be like yep everything went chaos now, it is Ianto.
Ianto Jones is a Legend.
And there is such a long time between moments you can save right around there.
Tis all obligatory dialogue and not a moment to quicksave.
so if you want to go again it takes A While.
In the end it kept rolling 3s repeatedly until finally it rolled a one
but I chose a Trickster thing where nobody rolls a one
so it rerolled over to a 20.
I quite like that Ianto got out of Trickster by using it to rewrite his own story.
But then once the business of the castle was all done (which takes so much dialogue)
right then when you're adjusting to the second biggest change in your life
the three boyfriends all turned up to be upset about monogamy.
And Sosiel is so upset! He's like saying poly is against his religion? Because his religion is love.
But either the programmers dont read enough source or Sosiel crit failed a religion roll on his personal life, because Shelyn is in lesbian love long term relationship with Sarenrae AND Desna. And there's rumours about Cayden joining in. So his actual goddess thinks it's okay, so he's just getting upset about his own error.
... which is to say it felt really bad when he gets all upset, but also, I feel like the writers have trouble thinking outside their religion.
Ulbrig doesnt want to try a poly relationship because he says he tried it before and this time he wants the no stabbing version. Which seems fair! But sad. We should be able to talk him into trusting the polycule with his heart the way he trusts them with his life in the field, but that isnt an option.
So that leaves Daeren, who officially doesnt care how many there are, though he also officially wasnt dating you and doesnt believe in love, so, pinch of salt.
... also Dae is evil and Ulbrig has an obvious point there.
But! If I am playing rift lost Ianto, he can't honestly date Sosiel or Ulbrig past this piint, because Jack. Ianto last saw him like six months ago, and that one time Jack disappeared was like four months, so he's not likely to be over Jack in any way shape or form. So he can't promise his heart to anyone that won't share.
So Daeren it is, even though he's... well, Ianto wouldnt be having with the whole mess of Casual he tried to bring, but, there are dialogue options for that.
I've brought all three of them along everywhere for ages, and Daeren gets a LOT of dialogue, but the others really dont. Maybe the computer has to pick one? Or he's just chatty.
But the thing is with the timing it's like, Ianto chooses the Trickster path and starts falling into chaos and the ability to rewrite the world, and ends up dating three guys. Who all make sense individually! Especially when Sosiel was having troublw finding beauty in the darkness, or Ulbrig finding meaning when so much was lost, you wouldnt leave them to feel bad. But it's new and a Lot for Ianto 'just Jack' Jones. But so is a lot of what happened over those six months, more and more Trickster choices until even his closest friends advise him he's losing it. He's just bringing the world along into the crazy.
So he stops, he renounces his power, he can no longer rewrite the world...
and *that* is when the guys demand he picks one?
That's going to feel like he was leaning on them with his powers.
That's going to feel Bad.
I picked Trickster because it said you rely on your skills, and to go with Atheist where you wouldnt consider god and good to be synonymous even if they were good gods, and choosing to establish firm boundaries in the No Gods No Masters department, but then the mythic quest turned out to... not really fit that? So you'd end up thinking yikes yikes yikes and getting all this attention. And Legend is a way to firmly establish boundaries once again.
But now I have to make it work and I am not at all sure my character build skills have made that possible.
Shall see.
