Torchwood: Dog Hop

An Andy adventure...
... I started typing that and realised the whole thing would have gone very different if at any point before the last minute he personally was sure it was an adventure, let alone a Torchwood one.
And Andy has an interesting life because sometimes he is in Torchwood, sometimes he is in Doctor Who, and sometimes he is dealing with your average shoplifter and or drunk.
He's usually good at figuring out which day he's having.
Usually.
... and if it were Doctor Who then you'd know the end would be the end of episode one and then they'd play the music but crucially there would be another episode where the Doctor gets to fix things.
But this is Torchwood.
... nothing quite like Torchwood for leaving you staring into space, realising there is always a way to get worse...
It's a well written story that says on the summary "And the weirdest thing is, Andy might be starting to believe her."
Which is in itself a weird thing to say, because Torchwood.
But then it gets told in a way that's just so normal that you believe more or less what Andy believes when he believes it, which is a very good trick when you can look at the little circle of how many minutes are left and Know.
But because of the extras I did not Know to the minute. So I was not expecting that end credits when it hit us.
... hence the staring.
... I mean you can sit there and write in your head how he's going to do x y z and it's not actually over yet, right?
... but it is in fact over.
And somehow I was not expecting something quite this screwed up in an Andy story with no Owen in, and yet. Torchwood.
So.
I really do like how it explores the edges of belief and how people can live with this stuff where SF is plain real and yet still basically plausibly think it can't possibly be this stuff this time.
And the fake out ending in the middle where Andy thinks it's just people being people this time was great, was plausible, was precisely what it would be if it was for real.
But.
More story.
Oh dear.
I think this is one of those stories that I'm not actually going to want to relisten, because of the sitting staring effect at the end, but which I do think are good.
And it's a great one about Andy.
