Just finished watching through to the end of last season of Doctor Who.
That was so perfect.
Right up until Rose went all Sparkly Chosen One.
I thought I'd be okay with it this time. I haven't hated Rose half so much this time through. When she got disintegrated I only cheered a little, and mostly thought about how sad Jack and the Doctor were. (Which, incidentally, also perfect, what with Jack doing all the big reaction and the Doctor being able to do the subtle stuff and therefore being the only quiet one and the center of attention, very nicely done).
I liked it right up until the TARDIS broke open. I liked it even after that. But the moment she stepped out all sparkly golden... No. Just, no. I tried to see it as 'TARDIS saves the day', I really did, but... it looks like Rose.
And then there's kissing. The Jack kissing was so perfect, it makes the Rose kissing almost painfully wrong.
And the series just didn't lead up to that moment. I mean, okay, there was UST, but that doesn't make the kiss the payoff. There were hands, all the way until that very last moment there were hands. Where hands go?
Also to make it 'kiss of life' makes it utterly meaningless in the romantic sense. Yes, the Doctor sacrificed a regeneration for her, and yes, that is a big deal and shows he cares, but not in a romantic way. If there was some other way to get the time energy into him, and *then* a kiss, the kiss would mean something.
As it is kissing=death, and how bloody wierd is that?
Except actually it means kissing = Doctor being a whole new man, so that works out.
Anyways, after the kissing, the rest was perfect. The regeneration was really well done.
And how much do I like the new Doctor?
Well, having seen him just the once, guess which Doctor I now dream about?
And in very fun ways.
I miss Jack though. He should be with them. That worked so well. Why they leave him behind? He looked so lost! Hug him! Go back in five minutes his time like you did for Rose!
I have to keep on coming up with reasons why he wouldn't. He knowed everything when he was shiny, so he must have known he was alive again. Leave him behind without asking? Bad! But he was newly regenerated and sort of crazy. So of course, when he gets sane, he'll go back and get him.
Right?
*sigh*
Incidentally, I missed it the first time due to the information not being important before we knew more, but one of the Weakest Link answers was interesting. Famous institute? 'Torchwood'
