I am reading a book I borrowed from the library, because I remember giving up and selling the series but also kind of want to know how it worked out.
It's written and set in the Before Times when an always on internet connection is a sign of being mega rich
but
it keeps losing me
because
every book seems to be unique.

No one has a camera, let alone a photocopier.

And okay, fine, whatever, maybe those technologies havent been invented yet in this AU
but
they're printing crime scene photos from the office computer
so logically they have
and things could be scanned in and backed up
ever
at all.

But no, because the whole fate of the storyline turns on this being a unique book.

This time of reading I am having trouble rolling with that.

Which is silly. There are still books that aren't scanned in, after years of archiving.

... but it has been days of knowing this one is essential to their survival, so, you know, someone could have thought...
