beccaelizabethToday was a successful Cleaner Day, with laundry and dishwasher and my half of the tasks achieved.
Haven't really settled to reading one particular thing, keep bopping to another window to see if it grabs me.
I keep thinking: one of the reasons I am having trouble thinking of proper fanfic ideas is I keep getting hung up on the time travel stuff. Or daydreaming I Arrive Just Before The First Episode. ... actually for Doctor Who that wouldnt be a good jumping on place but you know what I mean. Fixits all the way down, right? But there are many fixits already written, so the only thing different about my fixits is With More Me. ... and a tendency to try and recruit/redeem everyone.
But if I imagine arriving after the last episode I saw... I mean, then I'm just me. In a big scary 'verse. With no particular advantage in terms of data or being able to predict behaviour based on carefully presented packages.
Basically if I arrive in the 'verse without a cheat sheet all that happens is I get my butt kicked.
I have trouble with the Imagine A New Plot because it just doesnt seem like their standard techniques are going to help. I mean, they have five or seven or ten or goodness knows seasons of things being all cyclical and violence solving precisely nothing outside their next five minutes. ... in any given five minutes it probably kept them alive so that part is handy. But then if you try and write And They All Talked It Out And It Was Happy... I both do not know how to make that interesting and do not know how to make it plausible.
Except I kind of do if I think of it as a romance plot, enemies to lovers style. That's interesting and frequently plausible.
Imagining problems small enough to fix is... tricky.
But I have decks of cards for generating NPCs and for doing 'social combat' with different conversational approaches getting across a card layout, so I could just randomly generate some challenges and solutions.
... I will probably just daydream Fixit But With More Me again.
