Today's Doctor Who: Three's a Crowd
5, Peri and Erimem
(I like the end where 5 says 3s a crew)

Adventure setting is a planet where everyone is agoraphobic and nobody leaves their room
and I was expecting to resemble that, and not feeling great about it,
but it turns out they were raised that way to keep them under control
which is the boring version
and not really relatable.

Also, their fears are treated as irrational, albeit kindly,
but when they go out of their rooms lizard men literally try and eat them
so the story is not saying what it thinks it is saying.

I think post 2020 many people can tell a better story
about going inside because of a disaster
(theirs was terraforming fail in the face of solar activity, light is danger, hide now)
and just
getting in the habit?

People who've never known anything else and are raised by servitor bots seems
less likely.

*shrugs*


Also, what kind of fail of systems makes farming humans a better food source than eating what the humans were going to eat? It did specify the planet was non viable but still, eating humans is not very efficient.


I always prefer less murdery solutions than this one had. The writers invent terrible people and then write killing all their new hatched children? That's not winning.


It did have a very clear theme of social connections good isolation bad.

But I'm not sure all the bits where someone had a panic attack and someone else talked them through their breathing was really gripping story. I mean, everyone in the story had to achieve personal best Actually Go Outside, so that's a win for them, but a lot of story minutes are just someone breathing bad fast and someone else telling them breathe slowgood. While kindly but completely rejecting their worldview and insisting everything they think they choose is actually badwrong.

I'm just not enthralled.

I have listened this one before but had no memory of it, and that about sums up my reaction this time too.

Ah well.
