beccaelizabethI got this book for christmas. Started reading it around boxing day. And it took me this long to finish it.
It is so very, very, incredibly *BORING*
I'm really glad I didn't start reading this author at the beginning. First book, many problems.
I wanted to hit it with the 'show not tell' stick a whole lot.
Its heavy handed, manipulative, bizarre if I look at it through feminism, and full of 'he's a sociopath but I love him really!' type relevations. And the big character development she makes aside from that is getting comfortable with using her rage to do torture and killing, which really, not so much progress from where I'm standing.
I really very much dislike this book.
But I like the later ones by the same author. Improvements.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: the law isn't just for ordinary people.
Being a werewolf isn't licence to kill. Even other werewolves. Especially for killing humans. Killing because they killed somebody? Hypocrite much? Bloody stupid.
So that whole 'pack enforcer' aspect was just intensely annoying. As was the whole difference between pack and mutt - mutts couldn't better themselves because they weren't born pack. Except Elena, who wasn't born one of them but isn't a mutt. But aside from her they don't recruit. Its like aristocracy but only Elena marries into it. So she gets to be the shiny princess.
Bloody annoying.
So, won't be re-reading this one. Might sell it again.
