Oct. 8th, 2025 04:30 amPlayed Wrath pf the Righteous an unreasonable number of hours yesterday, due to it being Microwave Delivery In My Kitchen People day and I took a while to unwind.
Act 4 is proving pretty smooth to play with the half dozen characters I have been playing most of so far. I did the achievement with the Pathetic Quasit, though it took me a couple of goes because I had dispelled all its spells and then they all came back in one round and WTF there is no game mechanical way to put that many spells on at once ugh. Well, it took me three goes, but the first time one of my characters hadn't dimension doored up with the rest of us so that one doesn't count. But again I find it's not that I am getting better it's that it's actively difficult to lose once Daeran Arendae can spam Mass Heal and throw about Ressurection spells. Going anywhere without him is... bad.
Act 4 gives you companion quests that need more than one non core companion at once, or that will tempt you into thinking well they're all going to the same building let us go together. This is. Not good. For one I keep forgetting who has the rings and talismans and swords and what all else that are doing area buffs for us, and going out without them is a way to just fail to hit things extensively. But also it's quite late in the game to realise I should look up builds for the characters I don't use as often. Or that building Sosiel as a summon all the things cleric does work but my xbox will be so so slow at it. So slow. Plus there were so many things on the screen and it took so long to get back around to ones I could actually press buttons about that Arue died and I didn't notice for several rounds and couldn't find where she had fallen anyway. Also doing the slave market fight with Ulbrig, Arue, Nenio, Ember and Sosiel was... tricky. I kept trying Nenio's big spells but then the only ones actually damaging the spud were Magic Missile. Ember was just firestorming all the things until it was scorching ray time again. Anyone and everyone was only hitting on 20s and anyone in weapons reach of the spud was dead once a round so only summoned things could afford it. A significant amount of the successful damage came from Monitor Lizards, because see also hits on 20s, so you might as well. One entire summoned army vs a big angry blob and it was still probable I should have come back later.
On the plus side almost everything else was only hitting *us* on 20s for a while there. Concentrating on armour and buffs means letting problems rattle off the case while you try spells out.
I am still, multiple successful play throughs in, not sure how to make Nenio work. And I have been paying attention to which illusions are really sucktastic when they're thrown at us. It just doesn't seem to be working.
Scrolls could be being used a lot better though. I should line up some Firestorms for Nenio next time as well.
The more time I have been awake and playing the more I just try stuff to see what happens, and I was just thinking what a weird experience that must be for the characters. Like sometimes your Knight Commander is a careful defense first kind of a leader who gets you through Act 3 without losing soldiers, and sometimes they're like, you know what? Let's just firestorm the heck out of the abyss. First team needs sleep, second team you're up. Come on chop chop demons to kill. And then they have to resurrect you but they can now so they start treating it as Big Shrug with a teensy apology?
And then I get some sleep and the KC gets their original personality back.
What would that even be like in universe? So random.
ANYway
My accomplishments are few but the xbox gives me little trophies for them so I keep going.
