Oct. 30th, 2025 11:59 amMy achievements did not pop up today. Once again I have done A Dance Of Masks and not got the achievements for it. Not the fighty ones and not the ordinary ones. It is frustrating and annoying.
I only loaded to see if they would and to go back a bit to get some loot I missed last night. Had to go back to the previous autosave and then go put my buffs on again. Which took less than an hour.
Today's Labyrinth t shirt is so long it is only not a dress because of what would happen if I bend over. It's a good t shirt though. There's suddenly a lot of them to choose from, it's neat.
I dreamed this morning of a very old pub called The Holly Man. Dream me went in to ask if I could take their pub sign if I made them a new one, because there was some kind of bring 4 signs get a pint free going on next door. Awake me thinks possibly they meant pictures? Or they actually meant to sabotage their rivals, who knows. Asleep me was told No about the sign, but they were interested about the painting, so I showed them my magical repair skills and did a bunch of cleaning with Prestidigitation and fixed their air con, eventually, with Mending. I'm not sure Mending can do complex machines but their unit was leaking so much water they had their own indoor rain. So was their roof. Fixable things. So there was a house repairs section to the dream.
The Holly Man was a green man like the Oak King but for the other half of the year. The pub was very old and the sign was possibly original and the specific Holly Man on it... I decided to not use as a base for summoning unless I had to, since I am a summer child and he is a winter king. Might not get along. But he'd be powerful once he got here.
The pub itself was tiny by modern standards, one room with a table for twelve, set with a white tablecloth and then a lacy one over it. The room was heated eith a big fireplace that used to be for cooking. The kitchen was the bar was the dining room. There was just enough kitchen at the back to serve up lunch for twelve at a fixed time of day. It isn't how that usually works now, but when things were more village sized who was building these great big places like the chain pubs do? When I woke up I realised this has been bothering me about RPG design for ages, there's always enough room for Enlarged medium sized characters to run around having a 6 vs 6 fight, it's a gigantic room with bunches of tables. I have been in many pubs that were much smaller than you'd need for that. And I haven't been in many pubs.
The Holly Man had almost a regular set of people for their twelve person meals. They'd pick a topic to bat around while they ate and have an argument discussion about it every day. Very civilised.
Two of the twelve were Lucifer and Mazikeen, from the TV show comics. And one was Arushalae, the ascended succubus from Wrath of the Righteous. And one for that day was going to be me with my cantrip magic.
Slightly outpowered there.
Up until the dream added some xtian myth and made it lunch with Lucifer, that was a different kind of set up.
Now I'm thinking it could be less obvious but always have a Tempter at the table.
Or it could be more obvious and fill the rest of the seats with the other alignments of Outsider.
Quite the argument, there,
The part where twelve people sit down together and chat to set the world to rights is the interesting things about pubs. So making it that small was sort of concentrating the interesting bits.
Still wondering what would happen if the Holly Man turned up
especially if he found some very unholy people at dinner.
Now I am awake and must admit it and get on with my day. New food arriving this evening because some of it wasn't there on Sunday. But some nice stuff for lunch is available. I keep forgetting how nice eggs with a bit of cheese can be. Or I could run the dishwasher and have the soup bowls with the lid ready again.
... kind of missing the idea of someone cooking it for me, but I haven't gone indoors at a pub for longer than it takes to order for over five years...
