Methos linguistics
Jan. 24th, 2006 11:49 amRather a long time back, I dug on the web, bought some books, and attempted to learn Sumerian.
Briefly. I moved on to the next topic pretty much as soon as I read the books.
Mostly I was trying to figure out what Methos might mean in really old pointy language.
So, from my research I got this little graphic here.

Now there are several problems with this, not least of them being I can no longer find the website I used. Or the books. I know what room they're in, but that just narrows it down to a rectangle of book stacks longer and higher than I am.
So if I wanted to know this again now, I'd start from the beginning.
But this is what I got then.
Akkadian word of the day gives
Akkadian: Mitu
Modern Syriac: Meetha
meaning: Dead
I think I heard somewhere that Methos meant 'dead man walking' and was chasing that possibility.
