Highlander season 4: The Immortal Cimmoli
Jan. 29th, 2006 01:41 pmOddly fluffy ending for a rather depressing episode.
The guy goes and gets killed so as not to dissappoint his mother.
Never once was the 'not your mother' thing mentioned.
I guess the Immortals involved wouldn't say that just because of biology.
But it might have been significant to him, and since it is life and death, I find the omission odd.
That guy who played the game because he thought it was a mission from god - the only part of Duncan killing him I found strange was the part where he then had a problem with it. The man must have killed a bunch of good people, and innocent people. Duncan doesn't have a problem with that? No, because of The Game.
*THAT* is why I have a problem with that particular aspect of Immortal mythology. Its a moral get out of jail free card in a show that tries to deal with moral issues. It is therefore dumb.
Except for the audience (ie me) is free to read the episode as 'The Game is dumb' and disagree with Mac.
It is interesting though, what it shows about Mac's mindset, compared with later. Carrying a whole 'trial by combat' attitude around. Would explain why he was sort of guilty, because other guy was living by a code with resonance to his own. But wouldn't explain, because other guy died by said code.
If they spent long time in the circus it does give Methos more time with Alexa, so good. Except she was already breathing through a tube, so long time of very ill, which is less good.
Amanda being able to talk Mac into being all shiny in a circus, kind of interesting. But this ep was kind of a waste of Amanda. She didn't do a whole lot. There weren't even quoteable lines. Strangely boring.
