arguing with the book again
Mar. 1st, 2006 08:47 pmfrom 'Sex and the Slayer'
Combo-Buffy's power is coded as feminine, magical, and 'good'
'coded feminine' can't be resembling 'coming from females'
because the part that comes from the female Slayer line is the part that tries to kill the scoobies, and therefore not actually good.
and also the book just mentioned about slayer power being from guys putting a demon in her, which while mystical weren't all feminine.
The part that makes *combo* Buffy is equally from males and females. 2 guys, 2 girls.
I figure the point of that was that combining traditionally masculine and feminine characteristics was far more powerful than limiting oneself to the traditionally masculine, even though patriarchal power has been in the ascendant for so long.
Is the usual point of those religious statues that look like sex. Combine the different characteristics to get the full view.
Book is full of things I either don't get or don't agree with.
Brain is full of sleepy.
hour earlier than yesterday even, but I think sleeping early is better.
