I miss my Justice League

beccaelizabethI've been re-reading my Justice League collection. So far I've been only reading one of the many titles. I think I need to rearrange them in the box because they crossover more often than not. The titles get confusing, they change a lot. And some mega crossovers have like half a dozen parts happen before they get back to the title I'm reading. Okay, exaggerating, but not by much. But even with all that, I love my Justice League. Trouble is I'm all the way up to issue 90, and already it isnt my JL any more.
My JL is Blue Beetle and Booster Gold, Fire and Ice, Guy Gardner, J'onn J'onzz, Maxwell Lord and Oberon, Scott Free and Barda. They bicker, they joke, they hang out together, they are family. And when it gets tough they kick ass.
Everything went wonky after J'onn left. Beetle's second coma does bad things to his confidence, and that takes the fun out of things big time. I love Beetle because he is a regular guy with regular problems who still does the super hero thing, even without any powers. Same reason I love the Bat family, only they are way more messed up than Beetle was. Then Booster gets sort of dead and loses his arm, and Ice gets totally dead. End of family, end of my league.
There were more months after that and I kept buying the comics, partly to see how they would fix it, but they didnt. They just brought in a bunch of new people I couldnt bring myself to care about and made it about them. Its like they marysued my favourite universe.
Reading all the way through to when I stopped buying is like watching it all fall apart all over again. Kind of anti fun. A few issues ago I was thinking maybe I should get back into buying comics again. Now I'm just reminded why I stopped.
