Aug. 1st, 2006 10:03 pmGhost Whisperer episode 4, I think.
The one with the transplant heart.
All cute and sweet and cuddly with that snuggly relationship in.
But darker, because there's very direct comparison going on with their happy snuggly bit and the upstairs alone dying in the bath part.
And then, just when you think you've got the pattern of this show, there's that laughing man right at the end.
Creepy much?
I am now very much more likely to continue watching.
I would say though, that bit with getting Cliff and his heart's ex together was damn creepy and really rather unhelpful. People have enough issues with donor organs as it is without feeling like they'll fall in love with the same people.
I guess as metaphor it works plenty, but its wandering too close to RL for me to be comfortable with reading it as metaphor.
Like disability issues. Lots of disabilities get used to represent metaphor or moral things, and it is *bad*, because actually that stuff doesn't signify, it just is.
Plus, once him and her start comparing notes about their mutual friend, I think there's going to be Issues. Bit much she left out with both of them. Some stored up nasty there.
I mean logically if its the heart that is behind the attraction she could pull it out of him and put it in a prettier model. Not that this show would go there, but Buffyverse or somewhere darker would have that possibility.
It is all backwards.
Though the actual words, with the talking about kids, that was unique to him. So that part works out better.
I have a huge great headache now. I don't know if I should blame the TV or just file it with all the other headaches I've had.
