Contradictions

After all the Cultural Studies and Lit reading, I have certain opinions about where meaning comes from. Like today's reading, 'Death of the author', all in the reading, that kind of thing. I mean, it seems to me entirely obvious that of course readers construct meaning from the text and all the other stuff in their head and of course those readings will be quite different depending on where they are and of course the preferred reading or what the named author consciously intended isn't terribly relevant and certainly isn't authoritatively The Meaning, because nothing is.
Thing is, this is obvious and of course when I'm talking about academic essay stuff.
When it comes to fandom, I wander around reading stuff, especially people complaining about XYZ and saying my favourite shows are a bit rubbish, and I find my first reaction is "But you're reading it wrong!"
And... that can't be right. With my other hat on, there is no wrong, just different.
But... but... Wrong! Obvious! And they're complaining about exactly what isn't there! And what is there would be the opposite which would be happy making and then they'd love my show as much as I do!
... Yes I said my show. I get tattoos of favourite shows. To say they get under my skin is rather literal.
Mine! Loves it!
But fan love wants everyone else to love it too. All with the sharing. So I want to go around telling people they only don't like it because they haven't seen ABC, which, er, means telling them they're Reading It All Wrong.
I'm all conflicted on a weird sort of meta level.
*puzzled face. sad and puzzled. with maybe a bag of sweets held out for sharing but strangely all rejected. Sad puzzlement. sniff.*
Also, I'm kind of fed up with Beginning Theory. On account of it just begins. I realise this is what it says on the tin, but I like much better the further reading books. Only I didn't read them today, so I'm kind of... like being hungry in the brain.
And I'm making more posts than I get replies, which always makes me sulky for reasons that are silly when I look at them yet which do not go away.
*sulk*
*double sulk*
*triple ran out of chocolate sulk*
