okay, so explaining why is going to sound like character bashing.
I love Giles, I really do, but crippling insecurities and self loathing feature large in my understanding of him. Maybe he accepted himself- when he thought he was dying. The man is hugely messed up.
And turns up to get the job done anyway.
So, love him.
