Sarah Jane Adventures
Jan. 1st, 2007 05:52 pmThat was fun :-)
First I giggled, then I was all yaaaay action, and, er, then I got a bit tearful at the end.
Which is mostly because I had about three hours sleep, and mum phoned in the middle of it.
But that was fun to watch.
For someone with a different approach, things sure seem to blow up real good anyway.
Pictures of the Brigadier up in her office! Suggesting his name for the kid!
Sonic lipstick!
... actually, that one is a bit blinky inducing if I think about it too hard.
I was so mad at that alien woman for calling it a wasted life, just because there's no boyfriend and no kids. The hell that's wasted.
I thought them making the alien say it was the writers agreeing with me.
And yet by the end of the story she's got a kid? So, what, woman=mother?
It isn't feminist rage, but there's definite feminist facepalm-sigh going on.
I mean seriously, did they make the Brigadier a father just to give him a life?
... actually I think they made him a teacher. Bit fuzzy on the details.
Teacher would kind of suit.
But there's adoption and mother.
OTOH I love the way that... well, by the end of the DW episode, she was all saying it would be somebody else's grandkids, like there was stuff that was over and done. But now it's more like, here's other patterns. I like that.
Her computer is Mr Smith. Computer love! Married to computer!
... and that's cool for reasons not at all involving identification. Yup. Really.
;-)
K9, stuck with black hole. Woe! Lacking K9!
I was a bit blinky about exactly which alien they used for the random visitor. I mean, thrifty, and pretty. Probably the prettiest alien. Just, well, associations?
Mind you, the theoretical intended audience wouldn't be watching Torchwood to make that connection.
I liked the whole look. Her car and the way the gadgets look. I don't know, kind of felt a tiny bit old school as well as being all new and shiny.
Basically I liked it.
Now I'm going to go and get some sleep before Torchwood.
Because if this can make me a bit tearful I dread to think what a season finale will do to me.

Date: 2007-01-02 05:41 am (UTC)Sarah/Tosh... You know, aside from the way one is dedicated to peaceful communication with aliens and uncovering the truth and the other works for the people that blow up aliens and cover up the truth, that could totally work ;-)
Pretty though.
