Rewatch thoughts

beccaelizabethUpon rewatching I now have (another fucking headache and) some more thoughts about the climax: The monster was a mistake. Shadow was good, shadow could work. The darkness that is all that waits after death, come to claim everyone. The life of light, willingly given, to drive it back. There could be lovely anti-glowy tendrils of shadow. It could be cool.
Instead we have a recycled CGI monster.
Not of the good.
OTOH
damn that Captain Jack episode was romantic.
watching declassifieds now
and they put so much work into their great big monster, and they're obviously so proud of it, and yet... no. still. I almost feel bad for having the opinion, but I still maintain the monster was a mistake.
Their idea of intra-team relationships is a bit different than mine.
Ianto wants to be Jack when he grows up? Hmmm.
Jack as Owen's father figure??? Well that makes a whole section of fic extra kinky.
But, Jack's choice of backup name - James Harper, I think it was. Interesting.
Owen did not know that Jack would be back. He hadn't guessed from Cyberwoman, he didn't know. According to the declassified.
Bilis as an evil gay. Yes, JB, we got it. We maybe didn't like it, but, *sigh*
But he was an effective opponent, so yaays for that.
"There's only one man who can save the world" ... and how much was JB getting off on that? He is such the fanboy. He has one of the cooler jobs in the world.
seriously. way cool.
The way Owen moved with that shoulder shot was just a bit Weevil, to my eye. Is interesting.
And in the totally trivial... *how* much gel does Jack use? Gwen's pushing his hair back and it just, like, stays there. Frozen hair. Really, he could wash it out sometimes. A little bounce is not the end of the world.

Oh, and one more thing - that kiss was *without* any practice? That was totally spontaneous we'll just kiss right now never tried it before kissing?

because dude, *with* practice... the mind boggles...
OTOH there's phrases you don't use about guys kissing and keep a straight face, and 'rose to the occasion' is one of them.
Once again it's the whole two completely different kinds of squee fighting for space thing.
Once I get these eps recorded and can watch them one at a time I'll feel a bit less turned around.
And now I'm going back to bed, because I might be nocturnal, but so are my headaches.
