beccaelizabethI have run out of chocolate. I still have some stuff that calls itself chocolate, but it is white, and it makes me feel ooky, and does not have chocolatey goodness.
Given that my already large trousers are getting a bit tight, this should be considered a Good Thing.
And yet.
I also joined a bunch of Torchwood fic communities in the hopes of finding more Jack/Ianto. Or Jack. Or Ianto.
I am desperate enough for fic I've actually read some with Owen in.
Apparently I can stand him if it's from his point of view. Though it still mystifies how he gets any, at least I don't have to read someone waxing lyrical about him.
... still don't like Owen.
Haven't read much about Gwen or Tosh.
Gwen is enough of a Sue in canon, so I kind of don't dare go near fic. Also, bad taste in Owen.
Tosh... I'm still trying to figure out if canon gives her a personality. Difficult to figure if fic is in character without that.
So far I've read some Jack/Ianto/Tosh, but it didn't work for me because of a whole bunch of reasons, not least being that Tosh is just... hmmm, how to say...
There's a bit in a Vorkosigan book where Miles is explaining he needs his people to push back, because Miles doesn't have middle gears and when he's off on one he can steamroller anyone who can't step up to his speed. Which, you know, covers most of the universe.
Jack? Very powerful personality.
This I just realised is why I don't much enjoy sub!Ianto. I mean, plenty of plausibility from canon, but there's such a thing as too much being in charge. I think Jack needs someone to step up and play at his level. Which is pretty much why I think Ianto works - we've seen what he can do. And granted, the stopwatch conversation was a bit unclear(?), but it demonstrates Jack isn't leading in that relationship. The whole harassment thing is much less funny if there's room for it to be true, you know?
Ianto/Tosh without Jack has a whole different power dynamic. It would be an exercise in subtlety. Quiet outsides, and then getting to the bedroom...
But Ianto without Jack makes me sad.
And I think Tosh would have more fun as a lesbian.
Given how oversubscribed Gwen is already that leaves little room for happy fic.
Especially since I think avoiding the homicidal would be also a good move for her.
Maybe pretty detective lady from 1-08 that was not in this time a tree.
... sort of not the point.
So far today the only plot bunny that brought itself to my attention involved Jack catching the bouquet at a wedding for Ianto's cousin, and subsequent Angst and Serious Relationship Talks, and buying matching earrings.
... I realise there's people that would happily read that. Since I'm not one of them, why oh why did the bunny pick me?
... aside from the thing where I thought about it in great detail for at least an hour I mean.
(In my head Ianto does this cute blushy thing when Jack picks out some dangly sparkly thing to try, because it doesn't match his suit so obviously he doesn't want it... except for the thing where he kind of does... and Jack could make knowledgeable remarks about men's fashion in other centuries and how he'd be stunning in... I forget the number, but, little high heels and lots of jewels and puffy vest and frilly sleeves anyways. And Ianto is Thinking About It, and this is a New thing for him. And... yes I'm playing dress up with the pretty men in my head and have absolutely no excuse...)
See in order to meet my basic criteria for getting written, somewhere in there there would have to be an alien attack, and all that shiny would have to fit the theme.
Actually, if they got time lost a bit and Ianto really did have to get dressed up, that would be a Plot. But it would also be kind of less fun because dressing like everyone else is is, er, not going to feed my kink.
I'm going to go away and read textbook now. Really I am.
Or possibly fall asleep again. It's been that kind of day.
