Master bunny

So I was thinking about the thing where the Doctor is the last of his kind, lonely god, no more other time lords in his head, comparisons made with that flower that needed billions of siblings but was stuck alone. And how he got offered the god powers to remake everything, but his answer was that everything dies.
The Master would not see it quite the same way.
Also, taking only TV series canon and for once including the TV movie, the Master and Romana both have pretty good loopholes if they didn't go boom. The Master got ate by the heart of the TARDIS, I think, and Romana was in a different universe, which should mean she's stuck but then again didn't for others.
So either one of them could suddenly turn up and do stuff.
But I think it would be most interesting if the Master did something to try and make Gallifrey be full of people again, because at one and the same time he'd be breaking all the laws of the universe and being bad, but doing something as would seem heroic and therefore being good.
The thing where he'd probably only bring Time Lords back if he could be the boss of them...
... Suddenly gave me a whole extra bunny, because who's to say who Rassilon was before he got famous?
*blinks*
er, anyways
Maybe the Master and Romana could be both working to restore Gallifrey and each have their own reasons and that would make them both a lot more grey and hence interesting.
I know it do depend on the idea the Master would be lonely, but there's that line about having the same mind, so they could be more alike than unlike in that way.
See if he comes back and he's all unrepentantly evil and rule the universe oriented and then the Doctor stops him a lot, it's all very well, but it gets kind of samey. Team ups are more fun.
... and by team ups I could possibly mean shagging but that's entirely not the point.
Just... there's already a temptation. There's always going to be a temptation, because of all that power still being around. Wouldn't it be more fun if the temptation had a face and stuff?
... part of me is still thinking of ASH as the Master, I admit, but that's not the point either.
It's just always more fun if he has to stop and angst about it. You know, in the right proportions. Bit of temptation, bit of struggle, bit of denial, then a few episodes of running around setting worlds to rights.

Date: 2007-02-17 03:48 pm (UTC)I wonder if in a way, the Doctor, the permanent rebel, isn't a little glad not to have the be looking over his shoulder in case the Time Lords bring him to book again. Now he can intervene in Time to his heart's content, never wondering if the Time Lords will undo things.
Which is why I like the idea of bringing back The Master, and having them on opposite sides where it might feel like the Doctor is in the wrong. It could be so deliciously ironic! :)
