I liked it
especially Bill treating the Doctor like an embarrassing relative
but today turns out to be one of those days when I can't cope with sound
or complex visuals for that matter
so I kept finding myself curled in a ball with my fingers in my ears
watching as little of the screen as possible
which obviously cuts down on my ability to say I have in fact watched the episode
I ended up turning the sound off and getting stubborn
but still
:eyeroll:
I'm kind of ... mixed feelings about the everybody lives aspect. I mean, everybody dies would clearly suck, but it feels... too easy?
the lady made of wood and no memories is creepy though. mindwipe rears its ugly head again. what is it about a person you'd need to preserve, to say they still live?
see also mentioning regeneration and shying away from actual explanation.
also Bill put the Doctor in an explicitly familial role, and the Doctor kept trying to get out of it. wrong generation. interesting. especially after photo of Susan on his desk. and saying he's the wrong age is a funny, but add it to him forgetting the lifespan of humans, despite having lived linear for an unusually long time. it's like he's going lalala to basic facts.
I liked when he said dryads and it turned out to be woodlice but also like a reverse dryad. I like he was expecting something different.
also the whole house falling down because the bugs ate the wood is very house hunting.
... my inner Ace kind of wanted to see it burn though
and then at the end with the vault
they check the locks yet he's been going in and out with food and presents
... he's not good with rules, is he?
and one wonders who he's amusing with tales of young people dying...
... and what's up with him, that he'll use that for story time.
like telling the thumb cutting story to the small children?
one wonders what moral he's drawing from it.
I think there's thinky thematic thoughts to be had about being trapped and role reversal and not living without each other and so forth
but that's something we've only got small pieces of so far.
I liked it.
... I hope Bill gets at least some of her stuff back.
I'm actually enjoying how things unfold and want to see the next bit
and the Doctor feels like the mystery this time.
