Capital letters

So, Roald Dahl Plass, or Plas Roald Dahl in Welsh. Why there's a one letter difference in Welsh for a word that Wiki says is in fact Norwegian I can't quite figure out, unless it's also a Welsh word that way. So plass is plaza in Norwegian. Soooo... if you say you'll meet someone in Roald Dahl Plass, obviously you put it all in capitals because it's a proper name. But if you say you'll meet someone in the Plass... do you say it with a P or a p? And is it different if you write Plas? And is using the Welsh way of writing it in an English sentence correct?

If you said you'd meet someone in Bute Street then you could put capitals on it, but if you said they're standing in the street you don't put capitals. Is it the same rule with plas? Is it a generic word or only a name?

I'm trying to figure out if something is or would look like a typo. I suspect a lack of agreement.

I keep seeing it referred to as "the Plass" with a capital P, I'm thinking because it's part of the name. If it was Roald Dahl Plaza, then "the plaza" would be right, but they decided to fancy it up...

If that makes any sense whatsoever.

I think what I'm trying to say is that "the Plass" seems more common, and I personally think that it's more correct like that.

But hey, I'm wrong at least half the time.

If "the Street" was an informal name for a particular street, then it'd be capitalized too.
