Doing some wolf research, discovered something interesting. I'll let Oz tell it.
***
"Research?"
"Wolves. Different kinds. Which do you favour- Mexican, Mackenzie, Timber..?"
"Red." Oz replied. "People can't quite figure out what Red Wolves are. Right now they're Canis Rufus, but they could just be little redhead Canis Lupus. Or they could be hybrids, half and half, gray wolf and coyote."
"Something of the Trickster in you?" Ethan asked.
"Me? Them, maybe."
"We were talking spirit animals." Mouse explained.
"I might not be a wolf spirit." Oz pointed out. "Werewolf just happened to my body. I could be an ant spirit, or a kangaroo. Only probably not kangaroo, because geography, but you know. Anything."
Ethan looked at him, tipped his head sideways, the view changing- boy, wolf, boy. Ghost vision seemed fairly clear to him on this one. "Wolf." he pronounced, looking the other in the also changing eye. "Red wolf."
***
Slight problem of geography even so- Red wolves are aparently a southeast species, not california, but I couldnt ignore the symbolism.
Oh, and that little snippet uses stuff I have planned for my big grand story epic, so anything as doesnt entirely make sense will once the other billion words before it happen.
And I think that Oz is talking too much and too casually to be my Oz, and also is wrong, but this is just a snippet. Because I didnt know there were red wolves, and they are pretty cool.
