The Doctor and Shakespeare
Dec. 8th, 2007 06:13 pmToday: yaaayness! :-)
Another signing at the place opposite the Forum, this time Colin Baker. I went while on the way to the theatre, and the line was short enough I got away with that. So I have a new DVD and two signed DVD covers. And it was cool.
Then we went to the theatre. We saw Comedy of Errors. Turns out Shakespeare is still funny. Cool. Why did we not study funny at school? We spend ages on mopey plays where everyone dies at the end, we couldn't do ones with fart jokes and mistaken identity and everyone ending up happy? So, anyway, plays nothing like school. I just haven't seen a play since school, so the comparison sprang to mind. Now I have decided I like plays. The theatre is a very reasonable size and I could see plenty well and hear also. Even sitting off to one side (cause I have to be able to get out) I could see. Helper person said she had to concentrate to follow the language. I had decided to sort of let it wash past and get a general effect instead. And they were all clowning around and there was lots of funny physical stuff too so I think that worked out. I mean some people are all 'ooh, Shakespeare, must think!' but the plays about some guy's unexpected twin brother turning up and going off with his wife and ending up marrying her sister, it isn't exactly thinky. Funny.
I got the... whatsit, thing that says who all everyone was. And there's a lot of 'aha, that person!' It's like everyone's been in Casualty or Holby City or Between the Lines or something.
... because lots of people are. But I mean, that's why they're a that-person.
Hmmm, I'm not saying anything useful.
Okay.
I'm basically just :-D cause today worked real well and I saw a play and it was funny and yaay.
