I read a lot of fic that is not in fact a story. It is a bunny with some clothes on. Because a bunny only says 'what if?'; a story actually tells us.

LJ seems to enourage this kind of... dressed bunny.

There are stories out there that are the Real Thing, but since dressed bunnies, and overdressed bunnies, tend to also advertise themselves as the Real Thing, it can be difficult to find what I'm really looking for.

Stories with meat on the bones.

I'm more than willing to enjoy stories that exist somewhere in between, because a lot of them wouldn't get written otherwise if they had to be Real Stories . . . but yes, there are some fics where I wish the narrative voice would get down out of the heavens and provide us with some actual moments. Luckily I haven't read that sort of fic in a long time, and if I don't get a moment in the first paragraph or two I just hit the backbutton.

I often write and post things that are basically a sales pitch of a bunny. "Here's an idea, and a few lines to tell you how shiny it is. Now someone else do it".

I read here that most people hate that.
