Jun. 11th, 2008 05:55 pmAm at UEA library.
Class starts in one hour.
I have nothing much to do because I read all the books except the one I left at home.
Not in the whole library. Clearly they have more books here than you can read in one semester.
I read all the books that are both on the reading list and available in the library. Plus a bunch I bought. Plus I bought one on the way here that I just read from the library and decided to own for my very own.
It is eerily quiet in here.
I strongly suspect everyone elses term is over.
We have this week and next week and the week after that.
... woah, nearly done. Feels like hardly any time.
actually comparing what we've studied to what the plan says, feels like 5 weeks. hmmm.
I went to see the Indiana Jones film. It felt oddly not right. Like it was trying to be an Indiana Jones film, rather than just being one. Except I don't know if that's a fair perception because it's not like I can rewatch the first three like they're new, I've known them like forever.
On the way to catch the UEA bus I went to Borders. They had the next one in the Vatta's War series by Elizabeth Moon, but despite what their computer said they didn't have the one after that. Also they had 5 of the 5th one and their computer didn't know that. Also I found two that were on different shelves than they should have been anyway. Boo.
I got 10% off the book I bought because the cover was all bendy. I decided I'd rather have the book now and read it.
I feel all... frazzled. And a bit tearful for no good reason. And I realised I hadn't had any luch before I came out, or indeed anything to eat since 0700ish, so I ate a bread roll. If it is working it is taking some time.
I've gone from thinking 'hey, I accidentally made an essay!' to 'oh noes, load of rubbish!!' without anything substantial actually changing. I keep telling myself this is normal part of essay writing process. And I'm two weeks early. Usually I'm lucky to be two minutes early. Mind, presentations started last week, and that's what I thought I was writing.
It's so quiet in here I feel like typing a lot to make up for it. Which is weird, because you'd think a library should be quiet. But this is even quieter than that. It isn't people being quiet. It's a library with only two people. How weird is that?
The bus had to go the long way around to get in. The road that usually let it in is closed. This discombobulated many people. I did not know where the bus was going. It went to my right bus stop eventually, but took an extra twenty minutes to do it. It only went up to a roundabout and around a corner and back, but in this traffic at this time of day, that took longer than I could have walked it. Except for the non trivial point that I can't walk it out there on the roads. I like walking on campus. Feels safer, even though there's safety advice posters up that suggest it isn't.
I have nothing much to do for an hour. I could do some transcribing I guess. Or watch Boom Town. Or check my f-list and see how many bazillions extra post there's been in six hours.
