Or more of the same. Spoilers Behind the cut
So the final choice in Torchwood came down to killing your own child to stop millions of others suffering.
Horrible tragedy choice.
And someone posted saying how actually we make choices all the time that leave the low 10% to suffer. And how Torchwood made them think about it.
Okay.
But.
Honestly - if it were my child, my cousins, a kid I cared about?
And it was kill them or let millions suffer?
I know what the math says and I'd still chose my own.
So, okay, call me selfish and evil... but it wasn't a death they were being sent to. Horrific suffering, yeah, but survival and therefor options. I'd hold out for a better choice.
So every story pushes a set of values and ideas.
If this was supposed to push us to thinking on the low 10%... what is it making us think?
That saving them means hurting our own?
More poison.
Wrong.

I'm beginning to think that it's a very good thing I hadn't gotten around to watching any Torchwood yet.
It sounds, from your comments, like the writers decided they didn't want to play any more, and they made damn sure nobody else could, either. *Pets becca*
