Money is pretty

While trying to sort out £1.50 for lemonade yesterday (seriously? £1.50? Stuff is expensive!) I found a really really pretty 5p piece.

The amount of art we carry around in our pockets never ceases to amaze me.
So I'm keeping this one, to go with my best examples of all the other designs I know.
... I'm soon going to be down to paying for lemonade in 1p pieces. I think I've cleared out the change box of all the shiny silver coins. Probably I should take the coppers to a bank and get them turned into silver so the money doesn't take up more space than the drink.
ETA: Try £2 coins for really shiny history

I've got the DNA coin, which is awesome, but I hadn't seen the Darwin coin. There is money, and on it is the Queen, Darwin, and an ape! How awesome is that!
I also like the coin about the gunpowder plot. I've got that one too. It's very pretty.
Circular Time had a bunch about the damage a time traveler could do with money - imagine dropping some of these into history!
