oooh, shiny!
Dec. 2nd, 2006 12:47 amI've been reading GURPS Biotech
(yes, I spend a whole ton of money on RPG books lately. they're shiny and full of thoughts.)
I keep on looking at stuff and being all "and I want that one, and that one, and that one as long as it's switchable, and ooooh, definitely that one, and dear god think what Jack could do with *that*"
Some days I'm just all... wake me up when we get to Tech Level 10. Or 11. 11 would be nice.
Just... to make all this biology stuff completely optional... shiny.
What Tech Level would Jack be from anyway? He's some ridiculous number into the future, right? Full on Ultra Tech? Bio Tech at basically magical levels? Because then there's all kinds of fun stuff.
Resurrection nanotech is TL12, so he had access to TL12 tech but didn't seem to understand it. Because his culture of origin hadn't got it figured, or because Jack didn't study?
If he came from TL11 that puts almost all the exotic biomods in the book within reach. A rather more flexible definition of being human is then required. Like all the stuff miss stretchy skin was complaining about.
Little things like gender and appearance would be entirely a matter of choice. Jack could have chosen his face out of a book or something.
Is fun.
I like all the brain modifications, even though they're the exact stuff I'd be most hesitant to use.
Well, I say all. Obviously all the positive ones. Lobotomy and Killjoy don't sound like fun at all. And Hotshoting would be a bit like existing obsessive-compulsive structures, only for targetted areas. I think I'll stick with my media obsession, I have enough company here.
But just being able to pay money and fix anything... *sigh*
... I'm geeking in phrasing incomprehensible to those of a different rulebook. I'll go away again. Maybe attempt sleep. I hear it is recommended for unmodified humans.
I definitely wouldn't get rid of sleep, but I'd definitely buy off the uncontrollable limitation ;-)
