bad library user no biscuit

I messed up remembering dates again and had two more overdue books.
... or possibly the same two books renewed again.
Anyways. Owe grand total of £2. *facepalm*

It has been ages since I got library fines all the time.
It's the geography of the thing. To get the books back takes two bus journeys. It's a bit much.

Also, I forgot to post some letters that now will no way get there before the date they say they want.

learn 'em, teach 'em, doing, done

There's a bit in Wind in the Willows where Toad says he'll learn the bad guys and Rat says he means teach and Badger says he means learn and then everyone gets confused.

Teacher thinks this is evidence of Badger being a rough lower class sort what can't talk proper. Which I think is inconsistent with Toad being the first one to say it that way round. Also, learn em makes perfectly good sense.

Teaching doesn't always go in. You don't want to teach 'em, cause they might not learn. You want to learn 'em.

It's like the difference between 'things need doing' and 'things need done'. I never noticed there was a difference until I noticed how many people can spend so very much time doing nothing ever gets done. Clearly, things need done.

English. Proper and conventional. Not so much the same things.

After that I'll have to decide between going back to sleep, again, when I spent most of the day asleep
or watching something actually scary.
