I think my house needs new bulbs.
or possibly new electric?
it did that flickery thing where it upsets the answerphone, but now the lights are dim and not coming back.
that has been true in the living room for some time now, but the hall has joined in, which means the bathroom is dark now.
so I shall have to acquire new bulbs.
except I'm planning to move in a few weeks, so I'm sitting here wondering if I can just hang out in the dark for like a month.

upstairs, someone is watching Only Fools and Horses.

why do humans build dwellings where such things must be tolerated?
can soundproofing really be that hard?

It is past five
so
that is yet another week when 'we'll know next week' does not in fact turn into knowing.

which is potentially good, since we don't know it won't work.
but potentially bad, since we don't know it'll work.

(yes there is a Friday in the week, but usefully, the people actually working on this thing seem to average a three day work week with only Wednesday in common, so, that week just ended.)

Genetics of magic

Today I'm idly pondering the genetics of magic inheritance. Again.
... specifically, setting it up so women are most powerful and are, like, legally obliged to have more than one husband, especially if the first one doesn't work out in the making more mages department.

I mostly just wanted a world where mages are mostly women, women are most powerful, mages are matrilineal and get estates and people to protect them, and they try and have children with bunches of different partners to optimise their chances of some of them being magic. That seems like a fun setup for some id fic.
