Master & Rory talk on topic of Things In Your Head For Centuries
... it's likely the Nestene consciousness was among the things to unexist right after the Pandorica closed. But Rory spent 1894 years guarding a great big box, and the Doctor thought he'd go nuts. He'd be watching himself for both symptoms of going nuts and symptoms of going auton, and after you watch yourself long enough, how weird could you get? So was it the memory of the Nestene in his head, a powerless echo, or the real deal, holding on in that one body, just overruled by Rory's stubborn self.
Rory's got an angle on understanding the Master that the Doctor just doesn't.
Or misunderstanding him. Because nobody, Master included, really knows how much if any of his behaviour was because of the drums.
I want a conversation with Amy and Rory and Eleven where he's explaining why he doesn't just give up on the Master, and he compares it to Amy and Rory in a throwaway sort of way while he's working on something else, and Amy gets all big eyes when she follows the thought.
... I also want a conversation with Amy and Rory where she admits she's got to have a minute away from the Doctor because she's just got this giggle that's been trying to get out. The Doctor is gay. And she pounced him. And does River know? Or, okay, maybe not gay, but... *giggles*.
And Rory is like 'yeah, funny', but he's all *ponders*
on several levels
because as stated, he's got some mileage into not-who-you-are. And been-dead. He could get unusual levels of identify/sympathise going on there.
Also: In my head when the Master jumps into the shiny shooting his life force everywhere he survives by eating Rassillon.
... draining the life out of him. Not chicken-eating. Or, possibly, also.
Attempting to possess Rassillon is also a possibility (Timothy Dalton and Matt Smith? *blinks* *happily*)
But, possibly more fun, Rassillon attempting to possess *him*
because the bastard was in his head for long and long, and if the Master is any better at surviving the end of the time war then he was using him for a lifeboat anyway, so, why not?
Or add another loop and the Master is acting like he's possessed but the Doctor doesn't buy it
and maybe the Master does buy it but the Doctor and companions are left trying to bring the Master back, because this body stealing thing is Not On,
except then there's the Karma issue that the Master has done it to others...
I keep turning this one around to find a different angle. not sure how it fits.
