Meditation again

beccaelizabethToday was a different meditation. Last week was about breathing, this week was about thinking kind thoughts at the universe. ... it sounded better the way he explained it. First you think kind things at yourself, cause it's easy to get in a groove of grumpy about yourself, then you think kind thoughts at a friend, so I thought at my friends list and also at actors off the TV who don't fit cause you're not supposed to think on people you fancy cause you're likely to get distracted, and then there's a couple more steps we skipped today, and then there's think kind thoughts at the whole world. I can do that. It's a sight easier to think kind thoughts at the blue dot than at, you know, people. ... I know that's missing the point, I tried to think of lots of people.
I continue to need practice at settling down and sitting still. It sounds easy until you try it.
My employee has the opposite problem. There was snoring. Only a bit though, it woke her up.
So the dude leading the meditation said we all tell ourselves stories all the time, and I thought yes, and mine has tentacles. ... my brain, I don't even know. But then he said imagine we're surrounded by light and the light is reaching out to everyone. See, tentacles!
... meditation is not supposed to involve tentacles.
... or glowy tinkerbell Doctor.
... my focus, it could also use some work.
So then afterwards there is tea. Which I don't drink, since hot drinks and spilling are unmixy. But I brought Ribena and had a plan where I would sit and say hello-how-are-you things to the other people. Except the problem with trying to clear your mind for an hour is it ends up empty. So I had nothing in it to say.
... except glowy tentacles Doctor type stuff, but I suspect there is a time and a place, and that place is not the Buddhist centre.
So, that was fun. I think I will continue going.
My plan to go on mondays so it is after college will hit a snag where there's only two teaching days of monday classes left, and they don't start for an extra two weeks after easter cause of bank holidays. But that means I have all the summer to get in the habit of going, and it's unlikely classes will clash, so that should be no worries.
