It could be Yale but pronounced Ya-lei.

But I kind of like "Yash" because it sounds like a sort of intoxicated guy saying, "Yes."

But if it's said Yali then it would write Yali. The offworlders aren't writing them down themselves.

Now I can hear Yash that way. Now I don't think I'll use it.
