Two tutorials and a 90 minute lesson today, with a few hours in between of sitting in the library thinking arrgh arrgh why didn't I do more work already arrgh arrgh. As you do.

No more lessons in this college year :-)

Now I have a 500 word commentary to make look properly academic before the 16th and two other assignments to do before the 18th + 2 weeks. The +2 weeks depends on contacting one specific person at college who is the only one who can type into the computer that I get +2 weeks, despite the fact I always get +2 weeks.

The library is very busy today. The HE students area was totally full. There's only 2 plugs in the whole place anyway, and I could see at least 4 laptops competing for them. So I sat in the silent study area. There was a dude watching videos with his headphones plugged in to the computer, despite the big signs up that say no headphones. He also hummed along. I didn't report him to a librarian because I couldn't be bothered. But it's usually like that in the silent study area. I don't know why people do that. Also I forgot you can't eat in the silent bit, because you can eat in the HE bit. I had illicit ribena. Bad library user.

I had panic quite a lot. I can do Short Story and National Cinema, and I should be able to do Dissertation Preparation (or Research Methods as half of the paperwork calls it). But the should is somewhat worrying. I really should have been doing more work there, and watching Doctor Who did count, but not in a vastly useful way. And I'm not expecting spectacular grades for National Cinema, due to only having read one book. I tried, but the others on the list were always out. I think I might try the UEA library next week, they should have more copies, and I only need enough bits to prove from secondary sources what I already have in my head, at this stage in the essay writing process.

It don't much matter anyways, the level 2 courses only count towards my final grade if I get a better mark than I already have, so above 67%, and the level 3 course is only 10 credits. The only thing is I'm getting grades that could, by about one or two percent, get a first. They always say to use a more academic register and fix the references and bibliography. It's a bit depressing after ten years. But, anyways, I could maybe get a first. Or, I could get a 2:1. Either would be good, but if I can get a first I should probably put a bit of effort into trying to do so. So now there's pressure. :-(

Plus the thing where I look at what I've said I'll do, and what I've managed to find by way of secondary sources about what I've said I'll do, and I *facepalm* and start thinking something else entirely would be a really good idea.
... there's just so much more written about the RTD era, it would be much simpler to go engage with some of that rather than strike out on my own about the most recent stuff. It would be sensible even. But noooo...
So I'll just have to do lots of reading about gender and paddle fast.

I'm home early because tutorials only, and in one piece, so basically I win.
:-)
