Doctor Who 7-03
Sep. 15th, 2012 08:21 pmNow I'm less annoyed with last week's. Because this week clearly states he was Doing It Wrong. The killing people thing, that's not how we roll. That's what happens when he's alone too long. So he gets told off and makes a start on fixing it.
Land of second chances. Mercy.
Yaays.
Also, black guy didn't die.
Shortage of speaking parts for women. But Amy rocked.
I'm not a big fan of redemptive suicide though, to put it mildly. Sucks. Live and be useful.
I'm in a much better mood this week. Apparently I have less to say when I'm in a better mood.
the stuff about getting turned into weapons and having to live with war, important
Rory has some Stuff going on there
also he wasn't much a nurse this week, just some guy. not even the Roman. just judgey.
Random people noticing Amy is a mother kind of feels wrong. annoying.
The Doctor being all angst and woe about what he's done, all guilt and anger and serving out a punishment... you know, I was annoyed he got rid of his reputation and his accountability, but on the flip side it's really kind of boring to watch him be guilty. Needs more adventure.
So I liked the bit where he was all christmas list about the mystery, and I liked the way things got serious
and I very liked he fixed things with talking and mercy and everyone helping together
but not so much liked the way the story cake-and-eat-it made the guy have the vengeance death punishment without anyone having to shoot him.
I mean, the thing he was doing, the helping people, that was better. and it made lots of people want to help him. clearly effective useful good.
blowing himself up was stupid and shouldn't be the thing that sets someone else on the path up.
living is better.
westerns as the land of second chances though kind of bugs me. I mean, that's the narrative of one set of people. the other set of people were having their first chance and minding their own business, as I understand it.
*shrugs*
okays, no more thoughts.
stuff about motherhood and people being turned into weapons ties back to A Good Man Goes to War though.
and stuff that happened to Rory
and what the Doctor is afraid he does to everyone.
I liked the bit where Amy was waving a gun around and it went all wrong, I like that it was obviously unhelpful and harder than it looks. No playing with guns.
BB didn't get much to do though.
Hope he had fun.
