Am getting annoyed at things with no subtitles on them.
Have recorded Game of Thrones on sky thursdays on PickTV, but the stupid thing has no subtitles. So it's all mumbly. Some characters I can understand, some only sometimes. Annoying.
Alphas is the same way. No subtitles, mumbly mumbly people.
And I can watch them, I can mostly understand, like with cinema, but I has to turn it up a lot and pay a lot of attention and I don't want to.
Things with no subs just stack up on my recorder box for ages because I very rarely watch TV when I'm all rested and concentrating.
How hard can it be to just put the subs on like proper TV?
Grump.
(GoT: Very messy. I knew that. Pretty sure it's not my sort of thing.)
(But it's still annoying it isn't telling me the words.)
ETA: And having complained to the internet, the next episode has words like it's meant to. Yaay for things working.

Date: 2013-02-12 06:47 pm (UTC)It's virtually impossible to watch GoT without subtitles - I've been doing a Series 2 mega watch to get through it before the new series (I recorded them in November/December) and I struggle to hear anything if the subtitles go off, to the extent that the volume gets turned up from my normal 28-35 to 75, just so I have a chance of hearing what is said!
Talking of cinema, I have to get the dvds of any films I like because I need the subtitles - I didn't miss too much in the Hobbit (or the broadcast stage version of Frankenstein with Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller) but for all my other favourite films (basically anything with Robert Downey Jnr currently) I feel like I've missed some essential bits.
So, sharing in your Grump.
Another thing that annoys me is when people complain about having t have the subtitles on - I don't use them for fun, they're ESSENTIAL. Stupid People.
Yay for words being back like they should be.

I checked on the Odeon website for times and there were showings of several movies with subtitles at the cinema.
there's like one a week of very few films at odd times, but it's a theoretical possibility.
I had planned to see The Hobbit that way but did not get to it.
sometimes theatre has subtitles too. but I never actually seen it that way.
but accessability is of the good.
